Clos des Aigrots
The Beaune premier cru Aigrots vineyard lies upslope near the border with Pommard, next to the Clos des Mouches. The Lafarge vines lie within the upper section of Aigrots, above the road to Bouzy-les-Beaune, below the tree line. A notably complex white, this offers notes of orchard fruit, grilled hazelnut, golden raisins and white pepper. There’s a gentle kick of saline acidity on the finish. (NT 10/12/24)

10% new wood. This is very classy, a much more fine-boned white fruit, a few fresh apples though of course there is also a creamier aspect to the whites in 2023. Plenty of energy at the back, a nice blend of characters. 90-93 points

The 2023 Beaune Clos des Aigrots 1er Cru Blanc has a crisp and focused bouquet with pretty yellow flowers, crushed stone and light dried honey scents. There is fine delineation here, and the palate is well balanced with subtle tropical scents. The prudent 10% new oak knits everything together as another vigorous and quite spicy finish lingers. This is better than the 2022! 89-91 points
