2023 Jean-Paul Droin Chablis Grand Cru Valmur

The 2023 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru has a touch more expression than the Vaudesir. Orchard fruit, a light smoky scent, and a hint of petrichor develop in the glass. The palate is well balanced on the entry and quite powerful. Yet, I find the finish just missing some of the detail and of its peers and indeed, some of Droin`s Premier Crus. 91 points

A fuller yellow with ripe orchard fruit, apricots and plums. More iodine in the background. A big solid block of fruit. Just enough acidity. At the moment the Valmur is less compelling than the Vaudésir, but all the building blocks are there. 90-93 points
