La Richemone is a tiny mid-slope premier cru at the north end of Nuits-St-Georges, close to the border with Vosne-Romanee. Domaine des Lambrays owns a small section with hundred-year old vines (planted in 1924). These are low yielding, but lead to a very refined wine. The 2023 displays violet, cherry pie, gingerbread and tomato skin. In the mouth, it is delicate and elegant, and so different from the full-bodied, powerful stereotype we apply to the wines of Nuits-St-Georges. An exquisite jewel of a wine. (NT 24/12/24)

A dark ruby colour. The bouquet is not quite all apparent but suggests a vast intensity of fruit and a fair amount of spice. The fruit is nearer black than red and the whole bunch spice is really quite prominent but once you delve past these, the second half of the palate delivers the absolute majesty of this great vineyard. The slightest hint of fresh chocolate appears far back. One can see the volume of the vintage alongside the exceptional class of the vineyard and some pretty skilled winemaking. Drink from 2032-2040. 94-96 points
