2023 Arlaud Charmes Chambertin

Secondary Description
Arlaud has 1 hectare of Charmes-Chambertin, in 3 different sections where the vines are aged 25, 40 and 75 years-old respectively. The quality on display here absolutely bowls me over. The perfume is exquisite, and the lovely, stippled mouthfeel has an impressive complexity to it. There is also a real sense of contained power, and this is no doubt a wine that will be explosive in the fullness of time. (NT 17/12/24)

The 2023 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru offers a delineated and focused bouquet with black cherries, blueberry and subtle peppermint scents. It is a little `hemmed in` at the moment but will flourish after bottling. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe black fruit, quite sweet and a little candied toward the finish. This is perhaps destined to be the earliest of Arlaud`s Grand Cru in terms of drinking window. Fine. 92-94 points

Bright fresh purple. The nose has just a suggestion of chocolate on top of the raspberries. There is plenty of energy here on the palate, now some ripe cherries, not the most concentrated but with a fine long aftertaste. Has me reaching for another taste! 94-96 points
