Once upon a time the Arlaud Roncevie vines were classified as Gevrey. But timed to coincide with Arlaud (a Morey producer) buying the vines, a reclassification took place which turned this section of the vineyard into Bourgogne Rouge. Since then, Arlaud Roncevie has become one of the best value Bourgogne Rouges there are. Succulent cherry fruit, both red and black, in an immediate wine that is already enjoyable and accessible. The 2023 Bourgogne Roncevie, completely destemmed and recently racked, presents a pretty nose of redcurrant, cranberry and a touch of iris flowers. The medium-bodied palate offers pliant tannins and sweet black cherries with a hint of vanilla on the finish. Enjoy this over the next three or four years. 85-87 points

The Bourgogne was being bottled on the day I visited, though the sample had been taken first. Fresh pink to purple colour. Quite a tense fresh raspberry pinot on the nose. Sharp acidity, acidulated raspberry, very tight, but the fruit quality is very good. 87-88 points
