2022 Sugrue The Trouble With Dreams

Over one-third of the fruit for the 2022 Brut The Trouble with Dreams was sourced over one-third from the Mount Harry site in East Sussex, with the remainder from West Sussex — a third from the Coldharbour site, a fifth from the Storrington Priory site and the balance from Ashling Park Vineyard. Forty percent of base wines were fermented in Burgundian oak, the rest in stainless steel without malolactic conversion. Fresh lemon and just a touch of reductive smokiness recall a crunchy Golden Delicious apple on the nose. The Chardonnay-driven palate speaks more of the cool, brisk, salty ocean than of the 2022 summer heat. The sunshine hours and temperature of that summer are, however, evident in the 2022`s concentration, generosity and juiciness. Nevertheless, it remains balanced through the exquisitely long finish.
