The 2022 Mauvesin Barton has a tightly wound bouquet that needed a bit of coaxing, eventually offering finely delineated blackberry, cedar and light briny scents. The palate is saline and quite classic in style, with powdery tannins. This tapers slightly toward the finish, but I appreciate its freshness and personality. 91 points

The 2022 Mauvesin Barton is a potent, brooding wine. Rather unyielding today, the 2022 gradually reveals hints of cassis, licorice, lavender and spice. I would give this a few years in bottle to resolve some of its searing tannins. 90 points

Seriously deep colour, and plenty of perfume, heather, blackberry and crushed roses, this is really an impressive Mauvesin this is one that I think will surprise many people. More accessible than many because it keep freshness and juice running through it, but has the depth and concentration of the vintage. One to look out for.
