More crimson in colour, with a pretty red fruit, fresh strawberry with more precision than the rounder and softer Chambolle. Then a surprising wealth of fruit on the palate, with just the slightest vegetal touch at the finish, which the fruit should defeat. 89-91 points

The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has a slightly less complex bouquet than the Morey Village, pretty but without the same joie-de-vivre. The palate is medium-bodied with a tangy opening, powdery in texture, a dash of white pepper and allspice towards the finish. Fine length. Promising. 88-90 points
