Tamlyn Currin
From a Cinsault block in Malmesbury. 28-year-old bush vines planted in decomposed granite with a bit more iron in it than usual. 50% whole bunch. He did a very fast fermentation (one week) with a bit of punchdown, three weeks on skins after the end of fermentation. Aged 10 months in concrete tanks. Super-pale. A glorious nose. A dry, delicate wine, raspberries and cherry blossom, like dragonfly wings. Tannins have lovely chew and resistance (rather than texture); like an arm wrestle with a wiry little boy. Blood orange and then baharat spice and red-apple skin. A nip of spice. Peony and rose petals. Unspittable. A wine for thirsty people. GV 16.5 points
