2021 Feytit-Clinet (Pomerol)

90% Merlot/10% Cabernet Franc. An intense raspberry note on the bouquet, then damson and lavender, mint and blackcherry. 2021 may have been a cool year in Bordeaux, but the glorious aromatics on 2021 Feytit-Clinet suggest that Jeremy Chasseuil had no trouble getting ripeness in his grapes. But as he noted when we visited, it was a year when it was important to wait, and not rush to harvest. Glossy, sweet tannins and a fresh, lifted finish. A glorious success of the vintage. 2021 Feytit-Clinet (Pomerol)

Media Reviews

William Kelley

Rich and muscular, the 2021 Feytit Clinet offers up aromas of cassis, blackberries, violets and toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, it`s a generous, structured Pomerol built around powdery tannins and lively acids. 90-92+ points

The 2021 Feytit-Clinet has a very perfumed bouquet of ripe red cherries, cassis and orange zest, well defined and yet understated. The palate is smooth and poised on the entry and a little powdery in texture, with a hint of dark chocolate toward the finish. Certainly a lighter style of Feytit-Clinet and, though well-balanced, it just misses the élan that has distinguished recent vintages. Drink over the next 15 years. 88-90 points

Antonio Galloni

The 2021 Feytit-Clinet is a relatively soft, easygoing wine for a Pomerol that tends to be both brooding and explosive. Crushed red berry fruit, rose petal, spice and lavender are nicely pushed forward. Today, my impression is that the 2021 will be a wine to drink on the younger side, while some of the more important vintages mature in the cellar. Incidentally, a recent bottle of the 2009 was both fabulous and very young. 90-92 points

Beautiful richness through the palate, good quality, precision and depth, and plenty of Pomerol punch, although with more of a bite than usual. This delivers a ton of graphite and pencil lead, but also cassis, blackberry, earthy tannins, good stuff. 92 points
