Jane Anson
Showing the serious face of 2020, as you find across Margaux. Good quality, firm tannins, chewy and confident, sombre dark fruits, clear ageing potential, high eucalpyptus and mint character, liqourice root, pomegrante, cassis and blueberry. 35% new oak. Hubert de Boüard consultant oenologist. Harvest September 11 to October 3. 93 points

The 2020 Siran sees the reintroduction of the art series label. It offers black cherries and wild strawberry scents, cedar and pencil lead. Light marine scents emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a powdery texture, very nicely balanced, hints of white pepper and tobacco towards the classically-lined finish. Superb, even if tasting them alongside, I find a soupcon more complexity in the 2019 Siran. 92 points

The 2020 Siran is packed with the essence of blackberry jam, mocha, espresso, bittersweet chocolate, licorice and cloves. This dark, sumptuous Margaux is not at all subtle, but it does pack quite the punch. This is an especially opulent style, to be sure. 92 points
