2020 Louis Jadot Beaune Clos des Ursules
Secondary Description
Domaine des Heritiers Louis Jadot
Nowhere does Maison Louis Jadot have stronger and more diverse holdings than in Beaune. The Clos des Ursules (named after the Ursuline order of nuns who once owned it) has been a Jadot monopole since 1826 and is a holding they are particularly proud of. It is packed with ripe strawberry and plum aromas. The palate also reveals a surprisingly structured minerality, baking spice and white pepper. It is carried along fast by the very vibrant acidity but converges in a lush finish. Elegant, very well-balanced, and powerful. (NT 11/01/22)

The 2020 Beaune Clos des Ursules 1er Cru has a very dense and quite intense bouquet, a melange of red and black fruit, tobacco and a touch of graphite. An underlying marine element becomes more prominent with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, fresh and vibrant but with quite a sturdy backbone and certainly the spiciest on the finish of the six Beaune Premier Crus from Jadot. Long term potential here. 91-93 points

Solid deep crimson purple. Magnificent deep rich imperial purple and feels much the same way on the nose. The fruit profile is a fraction darker than the estimable Boucherottes and perhaps with even more intensity, less heart on the sleeve, more wait for me in twenty years’ time. 92-94 points
