Jancis Robinson MW
The vines shut down for a July weekend in the heatwave. They were waiting for veraison then, which didn’t happen until the end of August. Quite a good September and then rain and more rain. But even so, the sugars increased. Bottled June 2022. Intense and brooding nose. Much edgier than the 2021, though arguably more burgundian. Quite a bit of tannin in evidence. Pretty serious and it will probably last longer than the 2021. Meat-and-veg sensation in this complex wine. Dry finish. Winemaker Liam Idzikowski thinks this is like the Octagon 2018… 17 points
