Syrah from thick granite, black mica soils, destemmed, fermented 30 hl concrete vat, 5 week vinification, cap punching, aged 25% new, 75% 1-2 year old 228-litre oak casks 20 months, then 3 months concrete vats, unfined, filtered, 2,500 b
(cask) thorough, dark red, black tints. The bouquet is sleek, channelled, gives a stream of black cherry, cassis fruit, delivered with intensity. The ripeness of the fruit is well, judged, inviting. The palate links closely, resumes the theme of pure, flowing black fruit, accompanied by trim, flexible tannins, admirable freshness and a hint of violet florality on the late stages. It’s a well worked, pure St Jo red, with quality fruit, and light powder minerality, so defines its place. Its richness comes from within, without effort. Drink 2026-46. 4.5*
