Anne Krebiehl MW
The 2019 Brut Preamble No. 2, a blend of 54% Pinot Noir and 46% Chardonnay, spent three years on lees after fermenting mostly in oak with full malolactic conversion. A lovely, slightly smoky touch of hazelnut appears tenderly on the creamy nose, while the pink-tinged flesh of red-cheeked apple emerges gradually. Tiny, fine bubbles swirl these quintessentially English flavors on the palate, allowing the superbly balanced freshness and aroma to work their magic. This is elegant, full-fruited but understated. Slightly pinkish colour. Fresh, intense nose. Very rich apricot flavours on the palate! Good texture and not too frothy. Refreshing finish but the palate is pretty big and flattering. 16.5 points
