Roussette de Savoie
Marestel is one of the most highly-regarded of the vineyards that cluster across the Alpine foothills of Savoie. This lovely example of the local Roussette variety comes across like an unoaked white Burgundy, and at the age of 5 it is also developing an interesting mid-palate texture, rich and grassy. It is no longer fruit driven, and aromatically is now more about dry grasses and moorland flowers. It ends with a nice note of salinity. Fabulous with raclette, and great with cheese more broadly.
