Le Clos is made from a 0.98 hectare Syrah vineyard planted on coarse black mica granite. This ancient soil leads to a wine full of dark fruits, beautiful minerality, fine, silky tannins and and notes of graphite on a long, lingering finish. This vintage is distinctive, full-bodied and powerful with delicate, mouth-coating tannins. A wonderful expression of this plot. Very rarely does Saint-Joseph reach these rarefied levels. Jancis Robinson MW
Dark, lively crimson. Gorgeous! Offers much more pleasure than the Hermitage Les Greffieux 2008. Sad that prices of this wine and the best St-Josephs generally have been edging up since about 2012. 18 points
