75% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, certified organic, 70% new oak. Black core with narrow purple rim. Very ripe black fruit, so much so that it`s got a touch of black olive. But also spice and dark chocolate. Rich and complex. Powerful and surprisingly juicy but the tannins are just a touch hard on the finish – perhaps it`s the alcohol effect? 16.5 points

The 2018 La Mondotte is one of the highlights in this vintage. A rich, extravagant Saint-Émilion, La Mondotte retains a surprising amount of nuance and detail for a wine of its size. Crème de cassis, lavender, mint, spice and licorice all run through this sumptuous, full-throttle wine. Bright saline notes add energy and vibrancy. Simply put, the 2018 is stunning. 94-97 points

This is 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, picked September 20th through to October 5th. The yield was 40 hl/ha. A rather plush nose of creamed black plum, and the palate shows the same character. Here the wine presents a wealth of rich black plum fruits, all wrapped in a medium-bodied substance, with a grip of drying tannins through the middle, giving the palate a sense of austerity with a chalky edge. The finish is all warm, with a spicy and open grip. Overall this is a big and bold style, warm and showing a rich extraction which doesn`t help the palate in terms of style or freshness. Overall it feels rather heavily gripped by its structure, with a broad, smoky, oak-bound frame. The élevage here will be in 70% new oak barrels. 92-94 points
