2018 Francesca Castaldi Nebbiolo Bigin

Castaldi Francesca have produced this elegant Nebbiolo from their Belvedere and Pianazze vineyards from vines planted in 1997 and 1998. The clay soils layered upon pepples and sand give the wine a Burgundian feel. Bright berry fruit on the nose and a rose petal aroma, the wine is pretty and sophisticated. On the palate the tanins are soft and there are subtle notes of leather sitting behind the fruit. The acidity is fresh and well judged. The wine will continue to develop complexity for the next 5 years although it is a pleasure to drink now. (DS 14/01/22)
