90% Merlot/10% Cabernet Franc. Plum and crushed cassis, inky black fruit, then a note of thyme and a whiff of new wood. Rich but lifted, full of character, and a more savoury, acid-driven finish. A very nice Feytit-Clinet. (NT 18/04/19)

This has been made with precision and care – it’s understated but with so much to enjoy having Pomerol typicity but with elegance and not the creaminess of some, more dried herbs and spices and again in pencil lead territory, but with great juice running through with cassis fruits and a wonderful lift at the end. I just love this estate and this is delicious stuff from Jeremy Chasseuil. 94 points

Black with the narrowest of purple rims. A little riper on the nose than the Clos René just tasted. Darker, more stewed fruit. Firm and dry in texture but cool and fresh on the finish. A little spirity on the nose. Concentrated but just the right side of intense. 16 points

This 6.68-hectare vineyard is situated between Trotanoy and Latour à Pomerol on gravel and sand-based soils. Average vine age is 34 years, and yields were 45 hectoliters per hectare. It is aging in 70% new and 30% second year barrels, where it will stay for an estimated 16 months. The wine has 14.9% alcohol and is blended of 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc. Deep purple-black colored, the 2018 Feytit Clinet is a little shy to begin, unfurling to reveal wild blueberries, warm plums and black cherries with hints of violets, iron ore, pencil shavings and damp soil. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, it has a firm, velvety texture and bags of opulent fruit, finishing earthy. About 18,000 bottles will be made. 93-95 points

Proprietor Jérémy Chasseuil turned out another gorgeous wine at Feytit-Clinet. Although the 2018 does not have the explosive energy of some past vintages, in exchange it will drink well with minimal cellaring. Cedar, tobacco, gravel, dried flowers, mint, spice and incense build as this richly textured, layered Pomerol shows off its class. As always, Feytit-Clinet is one of the most virile, potent wines of Pomerol and all of Bordeaux, for that matter. The blend is 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc. Tasted three times. 92-95 points

This is a blend of 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc. It presents a dark and very restrained character on the nose, with perfumed black plum and black olive, covered with spicy, sooty and black pepper notes. A luscious, plush and plump palate, not loaded with extract though, the wine showing a rather polished substance, a crisp shell of fruit wrapped around the peppery tannins. A charming style, fresh, with no shortage of grippy substance, which provides a fabulously long and upright finish. Very nice potential. Well done. 92-94 points
