Charton`s 2017 Mercurey 1er Cru Clos du Roy is showing brilliantly, bursting with aromas of cassis, wild plums, dark chocolate and violets. On the palate, it`s medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, with lovely concentration, velvety tannins and a long, lingering finish. Vinfied with 50% whole clusters, this is a terrific success and well worth seeking out. 93 points
