This year the Millandes is all about elegance and finesse and detail. There`s more spice than the village shows, and good, red fruit. Palate weight is light but there`s no lack of matter and texture is fine. The overall impression is one of deftness and the wine finishes with silky tannins. (CW 8/11/18)

The 2017 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Millandes 1er Cru has typical Morey bouquet of dark berry fruit mixed with graphite, a little distant at first but eventually developing more fruit concentration and hints of violet borrowed from Vosne. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin. This feels quite saline in the mouth, offering good density and sucrosity and a touch of blood orange mixed with white pepper toward the finish. Very fine. 90-92 points
