Chianti Classico Gran Selezione
Oof. This 2016 Rocca di Montegrossi San Marcellino Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is a big hitting wine. Don`t get me wrong, it has wonderful elegance too, but the strength & power behind this will support it for years to come whilst also being immensely enjoyable now. On the nose, dark fruit with muddled blueberries become lifted by whisps of menthol, cracked pepper and leather. It keeps you wanting to come back for another sniff. Whilst the tannins are certainly present, they in no way obstruct the great enjoyment one gets from this wine. Don`t feel you need to rush to open, but you won`t regret it if you do - I certainly didn`t! (TH 26/04/22)

Antonio Galloni
The 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto San Marcellino is a dense, packed wine. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2016 is an infant. Super-ripe blue/purplish fruit, spice, leather, tobacco and menthol build in the glass. The 2016 is dense and opulent, and yet the acids pulse with energy, lending a feeling of translucence that becomes especially apparent on the finish. That combination makes for a compelling Gran Selezione that should age well for 15-20 years or more. 95 points
