Subtly flavoured but mouthfilling, the delicate attack of sweet citrus fruit is followed by an invigorating finish. Vinification in wood has lent this an entirely different character to a typical Loire Sauvignon, and worn off the more aggressive aromatics. Instead the slight milky richness to the texture gives the wine an exotic suggestion of sake. Sauvignon Blanc arrived in Friuli in the 1800s, and massal selection has over time changed it from its Loire roots. (NT 28/06/18)
