2016 Abel Mendoza 5V Rioja

The jewel in the crown of Abel Mendoza`s white range, and considered among Spain`s best white wines. This tense, wound-up wine may take some getting into, but give it some time in the decanter (or better, days open in the fridge or best of all, some years in the cellar) and watch the combination of power, energy and aromatics unfold. 5V stands for the five varieties that make it up. Viura, Tempranillo Blanco, Garnacha Blanco, Malvasia, and Torrentes, all from old parcels Abel has assembled, all fermented in new French oak. The slightly waxy, energetic texture is a joy.
