If there were an award for most improved producer on the Montalcino hill it would have to go to the Gorellis. Their 2015 Le Potazzine Rosso di Montalcino is a brilliant product of this excellent year and builds on the success of their excellent 2014, which was made in much more trying circumstances. The 2015 gives properly ripe Sangiovese fruit from their two vineyard sites with freshness and intensity and the texture and structure which marks out the finest Sangiovese. (CW 13/04/17)
