The 2015 Pinotage has a fragrant and floral bouquet, mainly red fruit, very pure and lifted with black plum and orange rind/marmalade scents. Iodine hints emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip. This Pinotage has wonderful balance and is lightly spiced. There`s a little more structure than the 2006 with a precise and tensile, mocha-tinged finish. Very fine, if not quite the best that I’ve tasted. 91 points

It`s good to see Kanonkop delving into their cellar to re-release a few back vintages like this appealingly mature Pinotage. Textured, perfumed and sweetly fruited, it has a subtle volatile lift, textured tannins, plum and summer berry flavours and a hint of forest floor. 94 points

You’d expect this wine to be good in a stellar vintage like 2015, and so it is. Wonderfully heady and aromatic, with classic red berry flavours, fine-grained tannins, savoury tannins and the balance and length that are typical of Kanonkop’s reds. Drink 2019-27. 94 points
