Gundog Estate is based in Canberra, with vineyards there and in Hunter Valley. Karl Marx, the dog on the label was bred to the gun, but can`t stand gunfire, though is an excellent rabbit botherer. The Gundog Estate Wild Semillon is a classic Hunter Valley semillon with a twist. Picked early for ageability and the trademark acidity, a portion of the ripest fruit is fermented on the skins as an `orange` wine and is a textural masterpiece. It is aromatic and the use of wild yeast gives it complexity and great aromatic character. It has exuberant fruit and a long finish. (CW 20/09/16)
