2014 Taupenot-Merme Corton Rognet
Secondary Description
There is a dark cherry perfume here, then on hte palate quite big tannins framing a black cherry core. The 2014 Corton Rognets has good length, it`s fresh and everything textural is nicely woven. Going back to it later shows the wine much more open and perfumed. (CW 03/11/15)

The 2014 Corton Rognets Grand Cru has a tightly wound, slightly earthy bouquet at the moment, more black rather than red fruit, gaining definition with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, a little rigid at the moment, with a bit of firmness towards the finish that just needs a little more fruit to fill in between the rafters. Give this 3-5 years in bottle. 90-92 points

Firm reduction blocks an evaluation of the nose. There is excellent size, weight and muscle to the cool, restrained and imposingly intense flavors that are a fine combination of power, punch and richness on the mineral-driven and admirably long finish. This is a classic built-to-age Corton but with no rusticity. 91-94 points
