The 2014 Sérilhan has a feistier and more exuberant bouquet compared directly with the 2015. This sprints out of the glass with vivacious red cherries, blackcurrants and rose petals, orange rind and dark chocolate, hot on its tail. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fleshy like the 2016 although this preceding vintage has more grip and backbone on the finish and will have greater longevity, maybe 20 years no problem. This is an excellent Saint-Estèphe that is well worth seeking out. An outstanding Cru Bourgeois. 92 points

61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 16 months in barriques, 35% new. Very dark crimson. Fragrant with some red as well as the more typical black fruit – very inviting. Some oak sweetness too. On the palate, ripe and sweet with flavours of red plum. Unusual given the high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon. Juicy, fresh and lively. Distinctive in this line up of St-Estèphes. Deep and persistent but lively with a firm but not aggressive tannic grip. 16.5 points
