Saumur-Champigny is a red wine appellation in the orbit of Saumur, deep in the Loire Valley, halfway between Chinon and the city of Angers. One of the newest and most exciting producers in the area is Domaine de Rocheville, founded by longtime wine enthusiast Phillipe Porche. His Prince is a brilliant Cabernet Franc. The ripe fruit the bouquet offers belies the intense, dry, quite mineral palate. A very serious companion for your roast lamb. (NT 26/08/16)
