From a brilliant vintage, this crystalline Chenin shows richness and finesse in equal measure. The wine has purity and real character and shows many a more expensive Chardonnay a real run for its money. We tend to think of Suamur as being a red wine area but this little vineyard area is beautifully suited to both. On the banks of the Loire and above the town of Saumur with its evocative cavalry-based history, there is good terroir and some great wines. (CW 10/08/18)
