2013 Arlaud Chambolle-Musigny Sentiers
Secondary Description
This starts of with a burst of fruit and acidity, though the acid goes away on the mid palate, where rich fruit takes over. The tannins are silky and the acid makes awelcome reappearance in mineral form on the finish. Pure wine. An essence of fermented grape. (CW 04/11/14)

The 2013 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru les Sentiers has an intriguing aloofness and austerity on the nose at first. You soon realize that it is toying with you, opening up with engaging black rustic fruit and woodland scents that draw you in. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, firm structure, quite masculine and Morey-like in style (no surprise as the vineyard has propinquity with Morey-Saint-Denis) with very fine salinity on the finish. This deserves two or three years in bottle. 89-91 points

A more deeply pitched nose features notes of plum, dark currant and discreet anise hints. There is notably better volume and power to the more intensely mineral-inflected medium-bodied flavors that possess ample richness on the muscular, dusty, mouth coating and balanced finish. A classic Sentiers. 86-89 points
