Ian d`Agata
Dark ruby-red. Aromas and flavors of red berries, minty blue fruit, cedar, and licorice. This medium bodied wine is quite tangy and penetrating today but is not made in a particularly lush or sweet style, finishing with substantial tonguecoating tannins that manage to avoid dryness. Still, this promising young Brunello boasts good density and impressive youthful energy and will repay cellaring. I can’t think of a single Montalcino estate that has improved more over the last 15 years than Pietroso. 91 points
