2012 Niepoort Colheita Tawny Port

The 2012 Colheita Tawny Port is the `young` Colheita sold now, as they always sell one older and one younger version (the older one now is 2003) because they want to show that the category is able to age in bottle. Niepoort has a very good track record in Colheita or single vintage Tawny Ports. This was bottled in 2023 after 10 years in Port barrels (pipas). It was not a special year, so they didn`t make a Vintage (especially after 2011) but produced very good Tawny Ports instead. It feels younger and less developed than the 10 Year Old Tawny, a nice introduction to single-harvest Tawny. To me, this is still a bit too young and fresh. It was bottled with 105 grams of sugar. 60,000 bottles produced. 93 points
