Fruit from low-yielding old vineyards in the Cima Corgo region of the Douro Valley. The grapes are predominantly trodden in lagares, prior to ageing in large wooden vats in Gaia and bottled with an average age of three years. RS 100 g/l approx.Deep crimson. Intense red fruit on the nose, but spicy too and some rocky Douro character. Very smooth, sweet and gentle, slips down. Lots of fruit and freshness and then although it is sweet, is has a lovely dry, balancing tannic texture. Almost more like a Douro red and very good value. 16.5 points
