Sherry butt
Full of spice and berries, with a whiff of peat, via marmalade and incense all the way to leather armchairs, there’s an impressive aromatic range here. This relatively youthful malt is enriched by the imprint of its stay in a sherry butt. Glenallachie, or the ‘Valley of the Rocks’ is a central Speyside distillery that sits at the foot of the mountain Ben Rinnes. It’s rare to see single cask bottlings since it’s in high demand as a blender, so get stuck in. (NT 05/12/19)
