Double sherry butt single cask single malt
At the confluence of the Spey and Fiddich rivers, Craigellachie and its neighbour Macallan sit at the beating heart of Speyside. Like many distilleries, Craigellachie is a product of the 19th century whisky boom; unlike many, it survived the ensuing bust. Since then it has kept a relatively low profile, but produces a very fine spirit. This bottling is delicate and complex, with classically sweet Speyside notes of confectionary and pastry mingling with the Asian umami notes of soy sauce and rice wine vinegar. A dash of water brings out a veritable spice-cabinet`s worth of complexity. (NT 05/06/23)
