Antonio Galloni
Freshly cut flowers, mint, sweet red cherries and licorice meld together in the 2010 Barolo Cascina Nuova. Fine and silky through to the finish the 2010 is a great introduction to the vintage. With time in the glass the floral and spice notes become more prominent, adding lift, perfume and finesse. Hints of orange peel, cinnamon and mint add complexity over time. The ripe, sweet tannins give the 2010 gorgeous early accessibility, but it should also age well. The 2010 saw 40 days on the skins followed by years in cask. The Cascina Nuova is a great introduction to the wines of Elvio Cogno, one of Barolo`s leading estates. 93 points

Here’s a wine that wonderfully expresses Barolo’s more accessible side. It opens with an alluring potpourri of scents including rose, violet, red berry, underbrush, leather and eucalyptus. The bright palate doles out crushed black cherry accented with cinnamon-spice and herbs alongside lively acidity. Drink 2016-2025.

The 2010 Barolo Cascina Nuova is great example of the elegant wines crafted in the Novello township of Barolo. The wine offers deep layers of bold fruit and cherry, but it also shows delicate highlights of mint and wild sage that add an extra sense of depth and dimension. Its texture is rich and supple and that plush concentration goes a long way on the finish. Drink 2016-2026. 92 points a long way on the finish. Drink 2016-2026. 92 points
