Remarkably bright and fruit-driven on the aromas for a 17 year old bottle - plenty of evidence of age in the earthy, ferrous aromas, but beneath them the fruit still shines. The palate is, if anything, even better, with crunchy red fruit and even a bit of tannic structure. This is still a humble Cotes du Rhone - 17 years in bottle has not magically transformed it into a Hermitage - but it is impressive that it has reached this age in such fine style.
A butler`s thief, or a decanter with a seive, is recommended for these corks - or a Durand, if you`re fancy! (JH 22/10/2025)
