It’s a staff v. staff taste-off at Uncorked

We’re often asked by customers for our best bottle at a price point they want to hit. ‘Give me a great bottle of wine for £30’. ‘Best bottle you can do me as a gift, fifty quid’. For the next couple of weeks, we’ve decided to turn our free Thirsty Thursday tastings into a competition. Uncorked staff members pick their favourite bottles at certain price points: you taste, choose and (for a bit of fun) vote, and we’ll see which staff member’s choice carries the day. 

This Thursday 24th we’ll be offering a chance to taste our best (red) bottle at around £30, with our best (red) bottle at around £50 to follow on Thursday 1 October. Staff picks are under wraps for now and will only be revealed on the day. Bottles will be open from noon. So come along, taste, vote Neil and make sure you don’t let Jabu rig the ballot. /NT

Languishing in last... 2020 Berliquet (St-Emilion)
It took a while to open up, it got a lot more votes on day 2, but not enough to catch up.

4th: 2019 Torre a Cona Chianti Colli Fiorentini Riserva
Torre a Cona was very good, but a bit too subtle for a tasting like this!

3rd: 2021 Lindes de Remelluri Labastida Rioja
Nice wine, single-village Rioja from a great, modern producer - a new wine to our range, and not far behind its more traditionalist cousin.

2nd: 2021 Vina Alberdi Rioja Reserva
It lost some of its appeal on day 2, but it was still popular (lots of peoples' second choice), top two here were very close. Outsold the Hogan as well, by one bottle...

1st: 2025 Hogan Stelenbosch Cabernet Franc
And the first bottle to be finished because lots of people asked for a second sample
