Philippe Colin

From a gentle introduction a few years ago, we are now in a situation where we get a regular and hopefully increasing allocation of wines from this excellent domaine. Situated outside the main centre, just off the bypass in a decidedly pristine and slightly unromantic unit - no black mould or cobwebs here - these wines have consistently pushed themselves forward at our visits and at subsequent tastings.

They have an intelligent approach to almost everything here, using a lot more large barrels and on most of the 1er crus only 25% new oak. Though in 2013 the Puligny Demoiselles has 100% new oak, but that`s because they only have one barrel. They always have good terroir definition here, so tasting is never dull as no two of these wines tastes the same. We like a bit of character in our producers, but the organisation and sheer professionalism at this address is reflected in wines of personality and assertiveness. (CW 18/11/14)
