This used to be called Tres Venerable, which inevitable meant that in the British wine trade it was universally known as Terry Venables. Now that old salt is not as well known as he should be, Delamain have had to change the name. Très Vénéré - highly venerated perhaps - is certainly as apt though. This is a vivacious spirit, almost as old as it`s possible for a Cognac to be in barrel, but where Vesper is a meditation Cognac, perhaps for more solitary or à deux sharing and contemplation, Très Vénéré is ideal for the convivial dinner table, where you may find old war stories retold and debunked. But it`s still glorious in its age and complexity. (CW 07/10/19)

Don’t get me wrong: this is a lovely Cognac, aged more than 50 years, but it’s just a tad less exciting, and more oak-dominated, than Delamain’s two flagship XOs. Everything’s here: there are lovely aromas of plum, licorice and deep forest and autumnal notes, and on the honeyed palate it’s got great structure and finesse and a long, mellow finish. But there are also significant wood notes throughout. (40% abv). 93 points
