Antonio Galloni
The 2025 Le Gay is classy, elegant and polished. The purity of the fruit is just remarkable. I also sense a lighter hand with regards to extraction and oak, which really helps convey more Pomerol character while still exalting fruit. This is a sublime Le Gay. Yields were a minuscule 19 hectoliters per hectare. The 2025 underwent 12 days of cold soak followed by alcoholic fermentation in barrel, using indigenous yeast developed at the chateau, for about 15 days. Floral overtones perfume the finish. This is sublime stuff. Tasted two times. 95-97 points

The 2025 Le Gay has a well-defined bouquet with bright blackberry and cassis fruit, orange sorbet and light floral scents emerging with time. The palate is quite muscular and grippy on entry. Black fruit, a healthy dose of cracked black pepper, quite linear and strict towards the finish. It feels just slightly disjointed at the moment but it should knit together in barrel, though a second bottle showed better, exhibiting more bite and mineralite on the finish. 91-93 points

Cloves, white pepper, blueberry fruits, damson and cocoa bean, plenty of gourmet touches, lavender, rose stem, just skirting full ripeness, but with a lovely juicy finish. Harvest September 2 to 11. 19.5 hl/ha. 100% new oak. 93 points
