Media Reviews

Jane Anson

Deep plum, intense kick of spice, grilled oak notes, old school Pomerol that is delivering sinewy, muscular wine that has plenty to recommend. Old vines at 45 years average, 16ha, planted to 75 Merlot, 20 Cabernet Franc and 5 Malbec, vintage blend not given. 92 points

Antonio Galloni

The 2025 Clos Rene is a gorgeous wine that marries the intensity of the year with the classic style of the house. Silky and aromatic, the 2025 impresses with its finesse. Red/purplish fruit, rose petal, lavender and sweet spice all emerge. This is impeccably done. 92-94 points

William Kelley

Aromas of ripe berries, petals and creamy new oak introduce the 2025 Clos Rene, a medium- to full-bodied wine built around powdery but somewhat firm tannins. 87-89 points

Neal Martin

The 2025 Clos Rene has an open-knit bouquet, brambly red fruit mixed with brown spices and light pencil shaving scents. Just a patina of over-ripeness from the summer months. The palate is medium-bodied with smooth tannins, a little grainy in texture, brown spices, with a very Pomerol black truffle-tinged finish that is very appealing. It will be an earlier-drinking Pomerol to enjoy over 10 to 15 years. 90-92 points
