Like Mazoyeres, this comes from vines planted after the Second World War. In Romain’s opinion, Charmes comes over as much more ‘Gevrey’ in style. (Whereas he says Mazoyeres comes over as more ‘Morey’, though they are two sections of the same vineyard. The perfume here is seductive and intense, with layers that can be slowly peeled apart: orange, cherry, plum, baking spice, incense. The palate is concentrated and charged. Such a serious wine – amazing. (NT 09/12/24)
