2023 Kanonkop Paul Sauer
Secondary Description
62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc, 15% Merlot
24 months in 225l French oak barrels, 100% new
Graphite and cassis, cedar and blackberry aromas. Brimming with youthful intensity. The palate is broad and creamy, raspberry and black cherry. Everything in abundance, including acidity which brings excellent lift to the wine. Tannins are refined, almost silky even at this very early stage. A classic profile of Paul Sauer, this needs a few years to settle; while it will drink well in the medium term, the components are all there for a long life ahead. (JH 28/07/2026)
