Les Rouges is one of the those unusual vineyards that manages three different classifications: grand cru, premier cru and village. The grand cru section is part of Echezeaux, and there is section below the tree line where the slope turns north which is only village, but Grivot has 50 year-old vines in the pebbly premier cru section just upslope from Echezeaux. Garrigue, violet and red berry compote on the nose. In the mouth, there are lovely, fine tannins and a moreish, savoury acidity. The final impression is of a fresh and lifted wine. Understated, and very good, this will naturally put on gravitas with time. (NT 06/12/24)

Jasper Morris MW
Medium crimson. A little strawberry, some leafiness, the salinity returns, medium depth to this. Quite attractive length. 91-93 points
