2023 Jean Grivot Nuits-St-Georges Pruliers
Secondary Description
The premier cru Nuits vineyard of Pruliers spans the mid-slope, steep towards the top, stony towards the bottom. Etienne Grivot says it makes a wine that it always powerful, never brutal. Notes of plum and red fruit come in a fresh, lifted bouquet; in the mouth, it is crunchy and mineral, but also has the suggestion of cherry liqueur. Refined and, as Etienne comments, ‘digestif’. Very fine. (NT 05/12/24)

More crimson than ruby. There is quite some generosity of plump ripe fruit on the nose. There are different layers here, a softer strawberry on top of a more concentrated core of dark raspberry. A very light trace of the salinity found elsewhere. Full bodied enough to be very satisfying. 91-94 points

The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru is more backward on the nose compared to Grivot`s other wines from the appellation. Its bouquet features dark berry fruit, earthy tones and a touch of ceps. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly lactic texture. It`s quite smooth, with just a faint touch of fig, but there`s good body and gentle grip toward the toasty finish. This is a fine Nuits Saint-Georges, but in this instance, I prefer the previous vintage. 91-93 points
