2023 Jean Grivot Chambolle Combe d`Orveaux

Secondary Description
Sweet and succulent cherry notes in this impressive Chambolle. It is primary and full of fruit rather than being in a herbal or savoury style. Silky and elegant in the mouth, with a lovely burst of acidity on the finish. The vineyard clings to the forest line in two separate sections, with Grivot’s vines in the section that leans further back into the combe. It therefore only qualifies for classification as a village wine, but shows above that level. (NT 05/12/24)

More crimson than ruby with a soft but quite deep strawberry fruit. I love the way the fruit builds on the palate, again finishing on a saline note. A little note from the oak but lightly salted red fruit remains the dominant feature. 90-92 points

The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d`Orveau is very perfumed and floral on the nose, featuring red berry fruit, touches of cola and brown spices. It is harmonious with beautifully integrated oak. This has more joie-de-vivre than an early Spice Girls` number-one hit. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet, slightly candied entry, orange pith infusing the red fruit and hints of Szechuan peppers. It`s quite lithe and focused toward the finish. I can imagine this drinking young, but it has the balance and substance to reward cellaring. This is excellent. 90-92 points
